Wyoming Public Television to feature Women’s History Month

RIVERTON – Wyoming Public Television will feature four special programs in honor of Women’s History Month during the month of March.

The programs include:

March 8 at 7 p.m. – Arctic Dance: Story of Mardie Murie. This biography of Mardy Murie of Jackson tells the story of the Mother of the American Conservation Movement. From her Alaska dogsled honeymoon in 1924 to her three trips to the White House, it is a story of adventure, love, and a life-long commitment to wilderness preservation.
March 20 at 8 p.m. – Maggie. This documentary tells the personal story of Margaret Thatcher, the most significant Englishwoman since Queen Elizabeth I and the first woman elected to head the government of one of the world's main economies. Friends and family members contribute to the first real television biography of her, as it explores her character, achievements and relationships, including her close friendship with Ronald Reagan.
March 24 at 9 p.m. - Cut from a Different Cloth: Burqas and Beliefs. Filmmakers Cliff Orloff and Olga Shalygin get an inside look at what it means to be a woman in today’s Afghanistan as they follow 27-year-old Serena, Olga’s stepdaughter. Serena lives for a month as an Afghan with Hasina, a 27-year-old Afghan woman, and her family.
• March 31 at 9 p.m. - Peace is a Woman's Job. History comes alive in the life and times of Montana's Jeannette Rankin, the first woman elected to the United States Congress. Filmed on location in Montana along with a montage of archival photographs, the rich and colorful locations and costumes give this docudrama a true western flavor.
