WCWI member elected to national board of directors

LARAMIE, Wyo. - Cynthia Chavez Kelly, a member of the Wyoming Council for Women’s Issues (WCWI) has been elected to the board of directors for the National Association of Commissions for Women (NACW). The election was held at the recent national conference in Pasadena, California.

The NACW is a non-partisan membership organization composed of regional, state, county and local commissions created to improve the status of women in all settings. NACW serves as a national voice for women’s issues and represents over 270 commissions for women in the United States, its territories, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.

“For over thirty years NACW'S support on a multitude of public issues has been a driving force towards equity and justice for women and their families in the home and in the workplace,” said Cynthia Chavez Kelly. “It is an honor to be chosen to serve on the board of directors of this well-respected group.”

Cynthia Chavez Kelly was appointed to the Wyoming Council for Women’s Issues in August 1999. She represents Judicial District II and resides in Laramie. She currently works for the University of Wyoming in the Office of Multicultural Affairs (Hispanic Student Programs).

The WCWI is a 13-member council with representation from each of the nine Judicial Districts in addition to four at large members and one ex-officio member of the Wyoming Business Council. The WCWI is a Governor appointed council.
